Church Information

The Colona United Methodist Church has been active in Missions and Outreach throughout its history.  We regularly strive to serve God and our fellow man through service and outreach activities within Colona and the surrounding community, within the Tri-State Area of Illinois, Iowa and Missouri, throughout different parts of the United States, and to countries overseas such as Liberia, Haiti and Romania.  In addition to our own Church or Conference sponsored activities, a number of our members support mission opportunities sponsored by other organizations.  Over the course of the last year, some of the activities we or members of the Church family have participated in are:

Food Pantry

The “Choo Choo Heart Food Express”arrives February 12.  It will be parked on the siding at the back of the sanctuary until February 22.  Watch for it!! Donations of non-perishable food items will go to the Colona Food Pantry.  Let’s fill the train!!  Whether you support the food pantry with donations of time, pantry items or money; YOUR donations are very much appreciated, thank you.

Heifer Project

Sunday school will be collecting change in our Heifer pails during the 7 weeks of the Easter season from February, 26th through Easter on April 8th.  Last year we surpassed our goal; the goal for this year is $2000.  This money will be donated to Heifer International which sends animals and training on their care to families in need thus making these families more self sufficient.  Part of the responsibility of accepting a Heifer International animal is to pass on offspring to neighbors in need.  Also, the byproducts of these animals such as milk from cows, honey from bees, wool from sheep, or eggs from chickens are sold for income for the families. You can participate in a Sunday school class or see the Heifer pail on the counter in the pantry.
